Without seeing detailed polling data, I'd expect something like 70-20-10 Lib-NDP-Con, but that's relying on some heavy assumptions, namely NDP support being heavily clustered in cities, with the Cons' support much more evenly distributed geographically (kiss of death for a second-place party under FPTP). Note also that Cons 23-NDP 21 is a statistical tie. |

While I would love to see the NDP form the next government, with Ed Broadbent as PM, I was born on the day when EVERY poll had Dewey defeating Harry Truman in the 1948 presidential election. On my 1st month birthday, Truman defeated Dewey. So, let the pollsters have their moment in the sunlight. I am waiting for the moment that I am able to go to the polls and vote.

![]() or this one: or this one: seems droppping footballs and wearing goofy-looking headwear isn't so great for your political career. |

The last time that proportional representation was brought up in Parliament, I think the liberals defeated it.
I think if it was brought up now, it might have a chance to pass. I can't recall, but did the Bloc vore for it the last time? |

(makes feeble effort to drag thread back on topic)
I put the Conservative showing down to a complete misreading of the electorate, particularly in Ontario. People just don't want an election, particularly one that will not significantly change the status quo, other than to benefit the BQ. That said, I think the Liberal support may be a mile wider than that for the Conservatives, but it's also only an inch deep. There's won't be much tolerance for error.

I'd say that the electorate is VERY volatile right now in Ontario. Take a look back at any poll from any given week over the past few months and you could be mistaken for thinking almost ANY party could take it.
This so-called "last bastion of Liberal support" is on pretty shaky ground these days. The rest of the country has pretty much made up their minds about the corrupt Liberals...but out there in smogland there is still some confusion. The next federal election should be an interesting one. To say the least!

You mean the one you said we'd be having about now?

True, PB...not even I dared to imagine the vote-buying and backroom finagling that Paul Martin's Liberals would stoop to while clinging desperately to power.
We might note here that they have now blown an extra 26 BILLION of our tax dollars on promises to all and sundry, in order to hang on to what little they have left. ![]() And what have they actually gotten in exchange for all of our hard earned tax money? Pretty much a dead heat. And THAT is only if the NDP stays onside. Which it might not do...if today's monumentous health care ruling by the Supreme Court is not actively challenged by the Martin Liberals. And...if Martin DOES challenge it and overturn it...will HE then begin to use public hospitals himself, instead of private for-profit clinics? Stay tuned. It's getting more interesting by the day.
