Conservative MP has a blog!

Conservative MP Monte Solberg (Medicine Hat) has a blog.

http://www.montesolberg.com/blog.htm

I don't know if he's the first MP to start one, but I'd be willing to be he's the first to actually post from the floor of the house of commons:

It's interesting stuff. Obviously biased, but interesting none the less.

I applaud that he is using the internet.

Interesting read - shows how some politicians are idiots.
"These Liberals change their budgets more often than Michael Jackson changes his nose."
WTF?

I was wondering when members of government would start to hope of the bandwagon. It promotes openness and allow the members to give their constituents continuously up to date. It's not perfect, and of course it will be biased but I think this is a step in the right direction that most members of government should at least consider.

Chealion, I had the opportunity to meet my MP a week or so ago, and suggested that he put his little info booklet online, and even make a personal blog. He is a fine fellow, and an honest politician, but did not have a clue what I was talking about. I suggested that he speak to one of his aides who might be computer savy for an explanation of this way of direct communication.

The idea of a Conservative with a blog is amusing... it's almost an oxymoron. After all, blogs are typically associated with fresh, unconventional thinking that relates to modern-day reality. That's really the opposite of conservatism!

Wake up. Things have changed. This is not your dad's Conservative Party. It's a whole different animal. One that promises to clean up the Canadian political system and hand us Canadians a real democracy for the first time in history.

One where corrupt politicians GO TO JAIL FOR THEIR CRIMES. What a concept! (no wonder the current Liberal government fears them so much!)

And there are plenty of women and minorities in this new Conservative party as well. They have progressive ideas, and some real solutions on their to-do list.

Many of those progressive conservative ideas are already working in several other countries right now. Many of those very same progressive conservative ideas have already been adopted by...wait for it...LABOUR/LEFT governments!! All over the WORLD!!

What a shock. You could knock me over with a feather.

Does this mean that the Conservatives will go after Mulroney and toss his sorry ass in jail?

MacNutt, I would like to point out that in the US and in Canada, under Conservative rule, the economies tanked, deficit hit record highs. Under Clinton and Liberals, the deficit was reduced.

Mulroney was actively prosecuted by the whole force of the Canadian government under Jean Chretien. They couldn't find a shred of evidence to make the corruption charges stick. Which is why Mulroney sued for defamation and won fifty million bucks!

Anyone here think that ANY of the Liberals who've been implicated in the current corruption scandal will be aquitted? Will ANY of them be able to sue for damages? With all of the testimony and all of the corroborating documents that have surfaced??

Somehow...I don't think so.

As for the democratic "boom" under Clinton....

this is now known as a false "bubble economy" It was in total failure mode about five months BEFORE George W. was elected to the presidency.

We might also note that all of the destructive accounting scandals (like ENRON) happened under Clinton's watch. So did the buildup of Al Qaeda. And the Somalia debacle. And all of the embassy bombings.

Plus...Clinton got impeached. Only the second President in US history to ever suffer this massive public humiliation. (the other one was a democrat, as well)

On the other hand....

Conservative policies have rescued the economies of many many countries. Even when they were adopted by governments who considered themselves to be "leftish" in nature.

Britain. Holland. China. India. Just to name a few.

And the whole western part of Canada is currently run by governments who have conservative policies as their driving force. Coincidentally (or not) they are the ones who are creating all of the jobs. And who are paying down all of their debts. And who have the lowest taxes in the land.

They are also where almost all the driven people are moving to, right now. In order to make their fortune.

Odd about that, eh?
