Our latest video project: opinions? Comments?

My students and I just completed this public service announcement. Most of the video, stills were done by students. The musical scoring was totally done by a student using Garageband.

We value your thoughts and critiques before we produce our final draft.

Something is very wrong with this file. I tried to download it, but after one full minute on high speed DSL it had only got to 81.5 KB of 4.5 MB. ??

I had no problem downloading the file on dialup last night. The problem comes when I try to play it. The intro starts, gets past the first text and then stops. I moved the slider slightly and it began to play again. Stopped again on the scene with the trees on the snow covered islet in the stream. Moved the slider and continued.

I get the message and liked what I saw to convey it, but it still needs some tweaking to run smoothly.

As a former elementary teacher, I really commend you on the work you're doing with your students.

Great work. I will give you my thoughts though. The type is way to small unless you are viewing it on a tv. The open is way to long cut about 2/3 of the images or make them much shorter. The students delivering lines should also be faster not speaking just cut it tighter.

Very well done. I would like to point out two things though.
First - the text needs to stay on for a second or two longer to be more easily read. Second - the white text is very effective on the black background. It fades into the background against the white shirts and the snow. Very hard to read.
I think it is very well put together and the message is very well done.

Nice job. I agree about the white text on the white backgrounds, and possiblity making it a bit bigger. Also, I noticed that some of the text lines are quite long and still on one line. I know you want that effect, but be careful of the TV-safe area if you are planning on showing it on TVs.

Also, a little tweaking to make it tighter (almost anything can always be made tighter) and you're good to go! Great stuff. Great to see the kids involved in stuff like this.

Smile fun and meaningful project!

I'd love to work with students, Fresh and some genuine ideas and
their enthusiasm are awesome~~
Anyhow, as some ppl already mentioned, IMHO,

1.the text: you can apply dropshadow on them - so that it can be
readeable in white BG or over a t-shirts.

2. I like the the classical BGM in the begining however near the end
when the students come up and shout "I'm the future!", perhaps it
needs to be more dynamic, in terms of tempo and tone of the music.
I don't mind to hear more upbeat and change of mood...

That's my 2 cents~~

worded fine for me. you did some really nice editing, good job. the text that appears on the screen could be left on/transitioned for about an extra 1-2 seconds for reading easy. some shots could have been better down with a tripod cause there was quite noticable camera shake. some of the scenes where your actors were wasting water need some refined. they were trying to avoid the look at the camera, and new it was there, and the acting looks really phony. other than that, i really like it.

EDIT: the music also matches the video topic really well.
