RealPlayer is worth getting if only to see this clip and then deleted it. You can also bittorrent an .avi of the show, and watch it with VLC or MPlayer.
Stewart's criticism was both scathing and right on the money. I couldn't believe what he was saying as I watched him *destroy* Tucker, and made him look like an idiot.
It's one of the funniest things I've seen on tv in a long time. As someone who painly watches crossfire, it was nice that someone finally called them on the whole premise of the show. The "I am not your monkey!" line was classic!
Anyone who doesn't like CNN, loves Jon Stewart, or thinks the North American media needs a kick in the head will gleefully enjoy this clip.

Comparing their "standards" to that of a comedy show was dead on.

*Exactly* what I thought. When they acused him of being hypocritcal, and asked them if they really wanted to compare CNN's journalisic obligations with Comedy Central's.... priceless...

there was an interview with noam chomsky on the cbc probably about six months back wherein he identified the decline of journalism as one of the major threats to democracy in the united states. as someone who regularly watches bbc world news and occasionally gets subjected to cnn news (or major network broadcast news), i sadly had to agree.
cnn is only just now questioning the bush administration's justifications for going to war in iraq (they were too busy at the time with their stupid corrupt embedded journalism), but to anyone watching the run up to the war on bbc, all of the facts that are just now coming to light in CNN style news were painfully apparent. bbc aired colin powel's little powerpoint presentation to the U.N. in its entirety. if that had been broadcast in its entirety on CNN there would have been riots in the streets of washington.
you can't get the news from CNN, ABC, or NBC, or CBS. it's the kindergarten version of the news for mindless automotons.
the print media isn't as bad (a bit of a generalization i know) but no one reads anymore.
John Stuart is a comedy show, but it has enormous impact. John Kerry, McCain, etc know that when they go on his show, it's going to be easy and make you look good.
That bow-tie wearing 35 year old child knew that, and that's why he threw him that question. John Stuart, as much as he hates to admit it, is a litte more than "fake" news, and it's time he stepped up a little.
I love Stuart and the Daily Show, but he should not have even gone on crossfire to begin with, but it was great watching it live.
CNN has it's good and bad points, but Crossfire does suck.
KardnalForgotHisPassword: Torrent search... Of course!
Murbot, thanks anyway, but the torrent came in before I checked back here. It is great that people in our community will share like that.
Great bit. John Stewart IS more than fake news. It is a very level headed look at the very unlevel state of US politics. I love his show and do too wish it could be 'steped up a notch'. An hour wouldn't be too much to ask. And where was he last week, with so much going on?
