I hate Train 48 and have never watched more than 3 seconds of it without getting an Oscar-worthy case of the dry heaves, then changing the channel as fast as I can. But tonight, since Jeopardy is in re-runs, I surfed through the channels for a couple of minutes... and saw Carole Pope guesting as herself on Train 48. Say whaaaa?
Ms. Pope & Rough Trade were an integral part of my musical world... a bit more than half my lifetime ago now (eek). Still have fond memories & frequently think of getting Avoid Freud on CD to fuel my personal Wayback Machine. But Carole Pope on Train 48? Say whaaaaaaaaaa? Now I feel like I need counselling or something. |

UGH! I HATE that show TOO!
The only time I "watch" it is when I'm changing channels and the digital cable delay skips over it while changing. And that's STILL too long!

I once owned a direct-to-disk copy (LP) of Rough Trade. I don't know why I sold it...it's a collectible now. They had quite a following in Toronto in the 70s and 80s. Here's a history of Carol and company.

I like Train 48, when I catch it. It has a homey Canadian/British feel, al-la Coronation Street.
There was a good line tonight where a couple of the guys made a bet, what celebrity it was, Carole Pope was the correct answer and the guy say 'Awh I thought it was Pat Benitar !?!'

Carol Pope and Rough Trade. Man now *that's* going back a few years. I remember being in Grade 8 when Avoid Freud was released and thinking that there just might be a double-meaning behind some of their lyrics. LOL
