I enjoy Star Trek. Always have and probably always will. I enjoy all the series; even the deplorable "new" show dubbed: Star Trek: Entreprise.
Now the show has been cut down to only 12 episodes next year but may be cancelled.
There is also talk about another spin-off which will serve as a prequel to Enterprise. Man.
Marina Sirtis said in an interview that she believes that there will not be any more movies and that the series should rest for a decade before coming back again (if ever).
I am also a Star Trek fan although I would not categorize myself as a Trekkie.
I have had difficulty getting interested lately and think a hiatus for the franchise is a very good idea. It will come back as strong as ever in say 5 or 10 years if they let it die for now.
I think they have over saturated the market over the last few years. I don't think Trekkies alone can support a high quality series on TV alone. There needs to be interest from the rest of the TV audience as well.

I've been a long time fan of Star trek as well, but when Enterprise came out I was less than impressed.
It was only until recently that Enterprise has rekindled my interest. The story line has become much more interesting. That, and T'Pol in nothing to sneeze at either I must admit though that Enterprise is going where no Star Trek has gone before (pardon the pun) with the partial nudity.
But a prequel to Enterprise? I think that is just beating a dead horse. The franchise has been suffering for the past three incarnations. It probably would be a good bet to lay low for 5 - 10 years.

I'm not a Trekkie by any means, but I have liked Enterprise since day one. I didn't dig the past two series, but ST:TNG was great, and I watched that religiously.
This season of Enterprise has just been insane, the pacing of the story is absolutely breakneck. I'm happy to hear it's returning next year. I find it cool to watch them struggling with problems that even Kirk would just "zap" around.
I'm a big Trek fan and I think that "Enterprise" has been damned good -- except for the theme. Voyager, with all its episodes about the holographic Doctor gazing at his bellybutton, seemed to "lose it" on many an occasion, and quite frankly it felt like the well was running quite dry with Voyager being THE THIRD series to exist in the TNG timeline. With Enterprise, everything old is new again, and I am glad at the edgier character traits in the crew. After all, "they" are further back in the societal scale than the enlightened and lofty members of the TNG timeline series.
The action has definitely been exciting with TNG. The Andorians are a great antagonist element and cool to watch. I really like Scott Bakula and Connor Trinneer's work on their characters -- and Jolene Blalock's acting has been really good handling the Vulcan psyche... and yeah, she looks HOT as well.
The ship looks great.
I was borderline on the theme song. I know many purists miss the orchestral regality of past themes, but I appreciated the more "human and earthy" signature the theme had, given that these humans are not far beyond where we are, sociologically. But I felt that the production of it needed more PUNCH, and the "new country" arrangement they gave it this year was a further letdown.
Anyway, we can be sure that there won't be any trek films for quite a while. I thought the script for "Star Trek: Nemesis" absolutely SUCKED. I couldn't care less about Shinzon's motivations for what he was doing and he was irritating. it also bombed at the box office. But "Enterprise" itself may not live to see the light of Season Four, and that would be a drag! knowing Trek cannon, there's A LOT of interesting things ahead of the Enterprise storyline, including a war with the Romulans, and certainly a lot more "new life and new civilizations" to explore, not to mention the creation of The United Federation of Planets -- and technology! Like, so far Enterprise is THE ONLY Terran starship!
Anyway, Live Long and Prosper

I'd like to see what Enterprise could become if Brannon Braga (and Rick Berman) would take a step back and let some other creative minds work with the series, Braga especially, before they cancel it.
It might not get much better but it'd be hard for it to get much worse. While I've been enjoying this season so far, there is really too much that's been recycled from Voyager (Braga's previous baby, Bermans previous "let's make it all about time travel" project).
The production value of the show is light years beyond Voyager though, rivalling DS9 for the best looking show, IMO.

Yeah! That whole "temporal cold war" crap is used like an escape pod for the writers whenever they get a bloody creative block! I'd rather they used several games of darts to free up their creative juices, rather than popping that idiot from the future in from out of nowhere!

It looks good, but it's also just an Akira class light attack ship (one step up from a Defiant in 24th century) with the nacels angled up instead of down.
While I appreciate that all UFP ships follow the same basic design pattern, they could have done something a little more original.
For comparison:

Being as how I have been a total Trek fanatic since day ONE of the original series (yes, that was way back in 68 or so)...I was going to add my two bits here.
But the last four posts by macaholic and Posterboy have it pretty well summed up. Dead on.
I hope they don't cancel Enterprise just yet. Dump the theme, get rid of Braga and bring in some creative people who are true trekkers. Leave everything else just as it is, and watch it come alive!
T'Pol is a throbber no doubt. Makes my knees weak. Good Vulcan too.
