I have no idea why I have a problem. Over a year ago I set up my home network using my Airport extreme base station and an SMC wireless gateway from Rogers. Today the light on my Airport Extreme began flashing amber. When I started airport utility I was told that my there was a problem with my Apple ID from my .me account. I had changed the password yesterday. I corrected the password and at that point I assumed everything was OK. At this point, however, the whole network crashed. I reset both boxes but I could not get an Internet connection. I went back to square one and set up a new connection by using the bridge mode of the Airport Extreme. When I tried to use a more normal setup it was told that no DNS settings could be found. Is the Bridge Mode the correct setting for my situation? The Internet is working again.

Call Rogers and request the modem be replaced with the Cisco gateway. The SMCs are nothing but a heap of problems waiting to happen.

If the modem is in bridge mode, it should just work.
