My IPod went through the washing machine and dryer, it was not discovered until it hit the ironing board.
Is there any saving it or just a simple service?

Chances are it is dead and with the price of iPods it is almost cheaper to replace than repair.

Anyways you could stick it in a bag of rice to try and get any excess moisture out (if there is any at this point) and give it a few days. Otherwise if it is dry then you could see if it powers on.

If it doesn't power on chances are the logic board is fried and potentiall some other components as well.

Maybe try dropping it into a jar with distilled water to soak (to rinse any remaining soap residue) and then put it into a sealed gag with some desiccant you can pick up often at hobby/craft type stores and it may take several drying attempts.

Put it in a blender. Pour in 4 cups of 2% milk. Blend on high until creamy. Pour into a tumbler. Enjoy!

Washed a new shuffle on day 2, it was still playing when it went it. Turned it off, waited 4-5 days and it fired up ok, a few glitches syncing for a little while, works fine now.

which iPod?? + have you tried starting it?? I would with near certainty say it's not worth fixing. I needed something small and bought a 8G nano to ride my bike w/ for $40. and that was a few year ago. Let us know if you DO put it in a blender to drink.
Might be a new TLC show idea.

Nonsense.

I've heard of iPods and iPhones that were submerged that dried out miraculously and kept working for a long time.

Don't turn it on/make sure it is switched off. Put in a baggie with rice for 3-5 days.

Important question -- did it get ironed?
If so, information on the degree of flattening / temperature / starch added would be required.

I recovered our Nanny's IP 4S this way after an incident with the toilet. (Baggie with rice)

Even better than rice - Go to Lee Valley and get the dessicant crystals for drying flowers. Put in a glass pan and put in the oven at the absolute lowest setting.

That being said, I couldn't revive my wife's iPhone in 2010 after it fell in the swimming pool.
