I think mine updated via the App Store. Though today there was a Java update.

That's right, Chimpur - iPhoto is now (for me at least) updating via the Mac App Store.

I've noticed that the MAS has become less responsive in the last few months - I used to be able to simply launch it and the Updates tab at the top would indicate the number of apps waiting to be downloaded. Now I have to click on Updates to force it to refresh.

Don, are you also using the MAS?

For the time being that sucks that I have 2 App updating hubs.... This will apparently be fixed in Mountain Lion with Software Update though. I suppose change can be upsetting to say the least

For those who like to stay on top of things, Apple today released a Java update. (http://www.mactrast.com/2012/04/apple-releases-java-update-for-os-x-lion/)

No Mark, I am not. Didn't even know it was possible. How does one activate it?

I was able to install the Java update via SU.

Hm. Well... it's the same issue that affected many clients of software developers who moved their stuff into the MAS: If you don't already own 9.x, you need to buy it (if the MAS doesn't automatically recognize your existing install of iPhoto).

In my case... I bought a new MacBook Pro... :o

FWIW: My SL Software Update got and installed the iPhoto Update 31/march and today I got the Java for Mac OS X 10.6 Update 7 notice and installed it.

My 15" MBP was new in December 2011, so one would think I would have the correct version of iPhoto in my current version:

MAS doesn't recognize any software you have installed via other means. I have iLife 11 purchased just before MAS came out and so I have to update via SU. Even Aperture where I paid full price from Apple for the discs soon after was available on MAS for $79. I wish Apple would allow us to download from MAS without being charged again so we could associate these apps with our Apple ID.

This person (http://forums.macrumors.com/showpost.php?p=13125059&postcount=24) claims to have had this issue, spoken with an Apple Support Rep, and received codes enabling him to purchase the app via the MAS.

If I remember correctly there was a way to associate all the iLife apps... I do remember somewhere clicking on something like that. Although iWork stuff isn't linked up.
