Goal: To record audio from a browser page.

I'm aware of Audio Hijack Pro, but like any sensible person I'm looking for a cheaper alternative first.

Look in activity and see if you can find the file, If so download it.

You should be able to do it with Soundflower + an audio recording app of your choice.

You'll need to choose Soundflower as both the input and the output for the system, and note that the recording will have all system sounds - so turn off anything that might go beep.

Hmm, a sensible person? That would be someone who would look for the best solution rather than the cheapest. Cough up the cash for Audio Hijack. If u can afford the Mac u can afford the software.
It works very well too, BTW.

Notice that Wiretap Pro still has a free trial. Used to be they just limited some of the bells and whistles, not sure what the limitations are on the current free trial.

I've noticed that since switching to Lion, this method doesn't work so good anymore. What I see now are a series of audio files about 1.7 mb each.

Thank you to all who have replied. After trying a few suggestions and some experimenting, I've found Piezo to be the best choice for my needs.
What Can Piezo Record?

Web Audio
Save audio from Safari, or any web browser, including Chrome, Firefox, and more.

This, and I'll add what an efficient app! Almost zero configuration and great results.

Wiretap Studio. Got it in a bundle somehow, great app. Very simple. If you can hear it on your Mac, Wiretap can record it.

Audio Hijack Pro (http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/11067/audio-hijack-pro) can capture audio from anything on your Mac. I use it myself and although it fits a very small niche I find it worth every penny of the $32. You can schedule it to record from certain apps at different times. Much like a software PVR for audio.

I run it on both PowerPC (older version) and my media center Mac Mini C2D.

I use AHP but only because I make a lot of use of it for a wide variety of things and it is a STEAL at the price IMO.

But for the single purpose Bjornbro outlined, I completely agree with his choice: Piezo is a "just right" solution.
