I came by on local Kijiji a 13 2009 model MBP base model (with 9400M), don't know the condition yet. I can potentially get it for $550 after negotiations. I was originally buying a refurbished macbook air and came across this. Is that really a good deal? What is the average going price for 2009 13 MBPs.

Need a quick reply as I have to respond to seller soon.

$550 is a good deal, it's about $50-100 below value I'd say (assuming it's in reasonable cosmetic and functional condition).

Thanks. I really want to just buy one to hold it out till the new macbook pro comes out. I don't think I would be satisfied with core 2 duo in the long run. It won't be my long term solution, so resell value in compare to how much I paid when the new macbook pro comes out is important. Do you think I made a good choice. Alternatively, I can just buy the current refurbished macbook air (especially with the bonus aeroplan miles) and use it for a few years.

The price on the unit you are talking about has already taken it's biggest resale price hits. There will be some trickle down as the current units, and subsequently those below them, take the biggest resale hit when newer models are released. If you are buying at least $50 below current "value", then you shouldn't take too much of a hit (if any) reselling it in the next year.
