Is there any free software that I can use to transfer the contents from Windows formatted 60GB Video iPod to my iMac running OSX 10.6.8?
I no longer have the PC that I used to sync this iPod, but found tons of photos and music that I don't want to loose.
I've downloaded some free software such as iPodDisk, but it seems to be very old and wont work with my newer OS.
I don't want to lose the data on the iPod, but want to get it working with a Mac so my kids can use it.
Any suggestions muchly appreciated.

I'm waaaay over my head here, but I don't see any guru replies who should know, so maybe try:

"Phone to Mac lets you easily copy, transfer or rip the music, videos and playlists from any iPod, iPhone, iPad directly into iTunes on any Mac."
Download Phone to Mac for Mac - Copy media from an iOS device to your Mac. MacUpdate.com (http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/30886/phone-to-mac)

Part of a recent macupdate bundle, or maybe one of the developers other software options:
Download Phone to Mac for Mac - Copy media from an iOS device to your Mac. MacUpdate.com (http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/30886/phone-to-mac)
Macroplant Store (http://sites.fastspring.com/macroplant/product/podtomac-options)

Maybe...???

Senuti will do what you want, you need to put the Windows formatted iPod into disk mode.

Here's some links:

[QUOTE=G-Mo;1182225]Senuti will do what you want, you need to put the Windows formatted iPod into disk mode.

Good call about using Senuti and I completely forgot about it, which is odd as it was always my first choice to use.

Luckily for the OP that they're going from a PC formatted iPod to a Mac rather than the other way around.

"If you have a Mac-formatted iPod and want to use it with a Windows computer, you will need to reformat it. If you have a Windows formatted iPod and want to use it with a Mac, you won’t. That’s because Macs can use both Mac and Windows-formatted iPods, whereas Windows can only use Windows-format iPods. "
How to Format an iPod (http://ipod.about.com/od/restoreandreformatipod/a/ipod_reformat.htm)

EDIT: Opps, just came across the following at the FAQ:

"Will Senuti recover my photos?
Not yet — but it's simple to transfer your photos from your iPod manually.

The following instructions will not work with iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch. You can, however, use iPhoto for these devices which comes standard on Mac OS X computers. To learn how to import your photos, please visit iPhoto Support. ..."

I've used Phone to Mac a couple of times and it works great. It is not free, however. Phone to Mac - Formerly Pod to Mac, iPod, iPad, iPhone Music Transfer Software (http://www.macroplant.com/phonetomac/?gclid=CIjbloaEha8CFbMEQAodqiZh1Q).

Thanks guys
I've been able to pull over the music and podcasts using an older version of iRip I found on an older Mac.
Just need to get the photos pulled over somehow.

Time for a Google search on 'Mac recover photos from windows format iPod' maybe??

Or are they all available to copy when the iPod is in 'Disk Mode' or just small thumbnails showing - IF even that?
