: iTunes Gift Card
csonni Mar 21st, 2012, 08:47 PM It's been quite some time since I purchase an iTunes Gift Card at the iTunes Store. I just got one in my cart but the only option seems to be shipping. I want to print the certificate for my daughter for tomorrow. I don't want to check out and pay $15 only to find out that it won't get here till the end of March (shipping time). Is there an option somewhere in the checkout process to save and print the certificate?
monokitty Mar 21st, 2012, 08:49 PM You can gift an iTunes code directly inside the iTunes Music Store to any recipient you wish.
csonni Mar 21st, 2012, 09:03 PM Nope. I just want to pay for it and print it. I don't want to email it. I want to hand her the certificate. I'm in the iTunes Store and I can't figure out how to navigate to the card, purchase it and then print it. I must be tired.
csonni Mar 21st, 2012, 09:07 PM Got it. I had to click the home button in the iTunes Store and then go to the right to Buy iTunes Gifts. Then I see where I can buy the printable gift certificate. See if I can remember that next week!

Thanks for sharing the solution!

csonni Mar 22nd, 2012, 03:51 PM My daughter's come up with a predicament in using the certificate I just bought her. She clicked Redeem in the iTunes Store on her iPad and entered the Code. Now, when she goes to select a song, it's asking her for payment information. I'm not going to have to enter my payment info for her, am I? Can she select a song to download from her code entered without entering credit card information?
Joker Eh Mar 22nd, 2012, 04:00 PM Doesn't iTunes require CC info for purchases even though you have credit? I thought so but I may be wrong.
dona83 Mar 22nd, 2012, 04:41 PM You shouldn't need payment information if you have store credit.

Did she redeem it on her own Apple ID? Is she buying from the Canadian iTunes Store as required?
csonni Mar 22nd, 2012, 06:11 PM Yes, on her own ID, but about the Canadian store- I'll have to check with her on that later when she gets home.
Paddy Mar 22nd, 2012, 08:37 PM If you bought it in the Canadian iTunes store, she won't be able to redeem it in one of the other stores. The gift cards/certificates are country specific.
My kids have their own iTunes accounts and all they've ever had is gift cards - there is no credit card info on their accounts. It's definitely possible to do this - it's explained by Apple here:
Creating an iTunes Store, App Store, iBookstore, and Mac App Store account without a credit card (http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2534)
If she's already got an account, it should be a simple case of adding the iTunes gift certificate to the account. The only reason it would ask for a CC number is if she's trying to buy stuff that exceeds the balance on the gift certificate.
