Hi,

I am outta town and my wife has indicated that a yellow fine line has appeared vertically in the display of my iMac Core Duo. The line runs from top to bottom and is about one inch from the edge. The iMac has been moved recently from one desk to another and the line appeared some time after. Could it be a loose connector for the display or more a failure of the display? She has rebooted the iMac several times since and the line remains.

Cheers,

RtC

A failure of the LCD panel. Since the computer is now vintage by Apple's standards, it can longer be repaired in any case (no available parts). Nor would it have been an ecomonical repair if it were an option. :( Moving it from one table to another was not the cause of the failure.

Thanks Lars. I will run it till she dies :) I`ve been reading also that Apple did have an extended warranty going for a while on some of these iMac displays that would yellow.... but not exactly the same issue.

I will probably just pick up a Mac Mini next time to replace it. I`ve been using an external Dell display with the iMac and therefore it would be a simple switch to the new Mac Mini.

Cheers, and nice hearing from ya...
