: Tax Question - Saskatchewan related

This is a Saskatchewan Tax related question with regards to lines 366 on form S1 (federal - Amount for children born in 1994 or later) and line 6370 on form SK428 (provincial - Amount for children born in 1993 or later).

Here's where I am getting confused:

I have the higher income between my wife and I. Therefore I am claiming the kids on line 366 on form S1.

Concerning line 6370 on form SK428, my wife has the lower taxable income and according to the tax guide she must make the initial claim.

Yet, when I review my tax return (using Taxfreeway software) I get the following statement:

"You claim line 6370 on form SK428 but do not claim line 366 on form S1, or vice versa. Please check if you can claim both for your children."

Last year I claimed the kids on both forms and despite Revenue Canada's assessment showing no errors I now wonder where the confusion is?

Did I make a mistake last year?

Does my wife have to claim the kids on line SK428?

Any Saskatchewan members know the answer?

Any help would be appreciated.

We have something like that in NL. The lower income person has to make the initial claim, and then may use the "transfer" line to transfer various deductions to the person with the higher income.
