: How do I get my Ipad started? And other questions.

1. Is it supposed to be on when I open the box?
2. I have an iCloud backup with my iPhone. Do I restore it using that account onto my iPad or do I set it up as a new iPad?
3. If yes to 2, will it transfer all my passwords and settings over from my iPhone or will I have to set everything up again?
4. Is it ready to use or should I condition the battery first? If so, how do I do that? I can't find it anywhere in the instructions.
5. Will the iPhone apps be automatically be converted to the iPad ones or do I have to buy and download the new version? If its the latter, will I have two copies on my iPhone and iPad?

Thanks.

Press the power button on the top of the iPad on the upper edge and wait for the Apple logo to appear. Once it boots, follow on-screen instructions to set it up.

My Ipad turned on by itself as soon as I opened the box.

Maybe try reading the manual.. Though if you've got an iPhone, you should know what you're doing..

I've obviously tried looking for the answers first. Perhaps your could be more helpful than to say go read the manual or you should know if you have an iPhone. No wonder Mac users have the basd rep of being pompous jackasses

I am not in the habit of helping pathetic douche-bags who call me a pompous jackass however...

1. No it is not supposed to be on in the box, it is more likely you accidentally hit the power button. Lars is correct that the button press is followed by bootup and instructions. Even if you accidentally powered it on you should have arrived at the instructions if it was the first time the unit was powered up. Was it new?

2. & 3. I don't use iCloud (yet?) so I can't help there.

4. Newer types of battery don't need to be conditioned.

5. It depends. Some Apps are written as so-called universals that work on both iPads and iPhone. Some are written specifically for one or the other and you sill need one for each such as Skype - there is one for iPhone and one for iPad.

It is not at all "obvious" that you looked anywhere for answers!! There are a multitude of YouTube "unboxing" videos that would have given clues. Was your iPad "new"? From Apple? Apple offers free telephone help for 90 days with a new purchase. Did you try that?

Sorry man, but your question is pretty sad.. I mean, seriously.. You own an iPhone according to your first post.. If you have an iPhone, you should know how to use a iPad... And I mean. Really? You can't even turn it on...
