PowerPC G4 Mac Mini running 10.5.8, no wireless connection, only an Ethernet port. This is connected by Ethernet cable to an Airport Extreme.

In addition, I have 3 laptops (A PowerPC White MacBook, my 2010 MacBook Pro and a Windows Dell), all connected to the same Airport Extreme wirelessly.

All three laptops are able to get onto the internet.

The Mini is unable to do so, says "You are not connected to the internet" in Safari.

I tried swapping Ethernet cables, I tried swapping the port on the Airport Extreme to which the cable was connected (I had exactly one spare port).

Nothing worked.

This is my wife's main machine and you know how it is when the wife is not happy.

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks and cheers

I was gonna suggest going into Network, connections, and release and renew the IP address, but it's probably something else

Did you recenetly add any new devices to your network?
Are you using static or dynamic ip addressing?
- If static, duplicate IP's?
- If DHCP, Have you checked to see if you've maded out the DHCP scope you've set?

If you open a terminal window (or command prompt from the windows box) from another device can you ping the imac?
or can you ping the Airport from the imac?

Apologies for the very delayed response. The problem is resolved. I just turned my cable modem and Airport Extreme off and on and voila, everything worked.

The reason I did not suspect the modem and router was because the wireless laptops were working fine, it was only the wired connection that went kaput. If every machine stopped accessing the net, the modem and router would have been the first thing I tried.

I wonder why that happened - wireless works but not wired, and it was a modem/router recycling problem!

Thank you two for helping.

Cheers
