: 2012 Tax return on Lion OS X
Gael Kusano Mar 10th, 2012, 11:39 AM Has anyone use Lion OS X to file 2012 tax return? Used Ufile on a desktop last year, but they don't make version for iMac that they guarantee and I can't seem to find a program that will work. They suggest their on-line program, but again can't guarantee. Do I have to use someone else's desktop to file this year? Anyone tried a tax program on Lion? Thanks for assistance/suggestions. GK:confused:
Chimpur Mar 10th, 2012, 04:10 PM I used TurboTax online this year and last year. Works well. Nothing fancy. Its really easy to use.
Gael Kusano Mar 10th, 2012, 04:45 PM Thanks very much - I looked at TurboTax, too. Guess I will have to use an online program as there doesn't seem to be a program i can download. GK
can.rules Mar 11th, 2012, 12:28 PM I've used ufile.ca for several years from my iMac under safari without any problems.
Gael Kusano Mar 11th, 2012, 01:01 PM Thanks very much - I have the new Lion out in July 2011 and none of the on-line tax programs were sure it would work - I guess I will just take a chance. Thanks again. GK
Chimpur Mar 11th, 2012, 01:03 PM TurboTax is free for basic returns and then there are tiers depending on what you need to do and how complicated your return is. Since I carried stuff over from last year i payed about $10-15.
posner Mar 16th, 2012, 08:16 PM +1 for ufile.ca ...
Gael Kusano Mar 16th, 2012, 10:49 PM Thanks for your reply. I did tax returns on file yesterday and CRA accepted them, so hopefully no problems. GK
Gael Kusano Mar 16th, 2012, 10:51 PM Thank you - used it yesterday and managed to net file. GK
Gael Kusano Mar 16th, 2012, 10:54 PM Thanks for reply - I used u-file yesterday and managed net file. GK
Scribbles Mar 17th, 2012, 12:22 AM I see you have already done your return. fyi - I have been using Taxtron for the past few years. It was a PPC app and getting long in the tooth. They have created a new Intel only version for 2011. I'm planning on using it this weekend since I finally have all my information.
Gael Kusano Mar 17th, 2012, 08:23 AM yes, I used u-file and was a little nervous. I had the program on my desktop but files wouldn't open on iMac and when I contacted them they told me I could try the online program but they couldn't guarantee it. I had some trouble with pages zooming out, but I am a new Mac user and still have trouble with the magic mouse doing weird things. Let me know how the Taxtron works - I saw that one on the CRA website and wondered about it. Thanks for the info. GK
johnnydee Mar 17th, 2012, 11:11 AM I've used tax freeway and it's mac specific app that works well!
Gael Kusano Mar 17th, 2012, 12:03 PM Thanks! Looks like there are quite a programs that work with Mac. GK

I don't know !
It's 2012 and I'm doing my taxes now! I've already paid my 2011 taxes!
Did you somehow get your 2011 taxes deferred to 2012 please let us know how?
;)

I noticed with the title the issue and was quite surprised there were 15 posts before the correction. Must be the St. Pattys day hangovers...

Sure, just don't do your tax filling in 2012 for the 2011 tax year and they'll get deferred, and with any other penalty and interest charges - if there are any.
I gave a single mum a bunch of my old tax software last year so she could do her taxes and print out her and her dependent son's stuff that she hadn't done or filed for FIVE years. Talk about deferred!!
Gordon Eastman Mar 25th, 2012, 12:34 AM Another thumbs up for ufile.ca. Have used it for at least 5 years on various versions of Safari on various version of Mac OS X. 2011 was filed with Lion last month. Slick for a web product, does everything I want without problem or hassle.
