Hey guys,

So, I currently have a ton of movies in MKV format, running through Plex to Apple TV. I'd like to explore something.

I don't want to change my iTunes folders (currently residing on a 500 GB internal). But what I would like is to have all my movies that are on a network drive (or can be plugged into iMac) to show up as well in iTunes without moving all current media to that drive. Is this possible?

And yes I would be converting the movies to an iTunes friendly format.

Not a problem. Simply make sure the following in iTunes preferences is unchecked. Then drag the movies into the iTunes movies window from their current location.

You can also try to set up your aTv via firecore atvBlack and just hook up your external drive to the AE. Not really the most legal way to deal with your library but mkv is not supported by aTv anyway ...
Or you can convert your movies to the aTv format via Handbrake .. you can create a batch for all your movies using apple script and the command line version of Handbrake ...
