This been happening for about a few months now (since the cloud thing got going)
Seems to take 3 times as long to launch most apps, and I've been getting random crash's with
the browser... sometimes 3 times a day. Like I said, this is a recent phenomena and was wondering if anyone else has noticed the same symptons with their original ipad (3G/wifi, 64g)

Same issues for me. Since iOS 5 the lag has become unbearable at times. Especially when typing. Restoring and resetting to original factory settings, and numerous hard resets has not helped at all. I suspect little will be done to address these issues with the iPad 3 around the corner. Complaints are plenty on Apple discussion forums. Since I use my iPad primarily as a sheet music reader, and media consumption, I will not be upgrading any time soon. The processor and paltry amount of RAM are the culprit. Nothing much we can do. I wouldn't be surprised if the original iPad doesn't get iOS 6. I only hope that iOS 5.1 improves all the issues. After all, our hardware is the same as the current generation iPod Touch.

Oddly, I'm not experiencing any lag on iOS 5 with my original iPad. Got lucky I guess.

I do have one app that crashes regularly, but it's the 500px app and it is just super-poorly made. It has always been problematic for users of all iPads.

Just a thought, try turning off all iCloud services and see what happens.

FWIW, Safari on my iPad 2 crashes frequently but it only happens when I am composing posts on website forums. Thread here (http://www.ehmac.ca/all-ios-iphone-ipad-ipod-touch-apple-tv-itunes/99094-safari-quits-too-often.html).

Have either of you with slowness tried restoring the software? That is the very first thing I would try.

Did a restore twice over the last month.
Had mail app crash again today
Calander takes a full 10 sec. to load the current week with all its tasks (cloud transfer?)

My iPad1 (32GB, WiFi) has also been running very slow. I hadn't put it together before that this might have been the case since upgrading to iOS5. But that is probably true.

Everything is slow. It's not any one app. Even trying to load up the iPad's setting screen is slow.

I have tried hard resets. I have also tried wiping the device and restoring the OS. It's still very slow. I went to a local Apple Retail Store and the genius there didn't acknowledge any "known problem" but just suggested that I close down apps running in the background.

Hello,

Has anyone noted whether upgrading to iOS5.1 has helped with this slowness issue on the iPad1?
