I am running Lion on my Macs and I now notice that when I place items in the trash I get a screen mentioning ancillary files. I can flag them or cancel the operation. I have no idea what this is referring to. I assume that the ancillary files are files associated with the file I am deleting. If I flag them are they deleted as well?

Any indication of where or what is causing the notification??

Do you have any extra utility type apps like CleanMyMac or any app cleaners installed??

I discovered that an add on to the TechTracker app is an uninstall feature that is notorious for causing problems. I used the free Appcleaner to remove the whole system.

I would encounter a similar thing with I believe CleanMyMac(unregistered), but I believe I killed its daemon process in Activity Monitor some days ago, and strangely it hasn't come back, and that's after several restarts and cold boots.

It was sometimes interesting just to see what it considered should be purged or deleted that it listed. But not doable in its unregistered form.
