In preparing to sell my MacBook, I want to do an original install without setting up a "mock" account for the new owner. What's the best way to install the original OS and then leave the account/user setup for the new owner?

I just let it get to the new owner reg screen and do a hard shutdown!
Not the best way but it's the only way I know of!

Command + Q should give you the option to shutdown properly.
