I believe it was on Showcase, around the same time as Six Feet Under and Queer As Folk. I think it was about a TV Network. They used to buy television shows.
Would you perhaps be thinking of Second City TV Network (SCTV) the soap opera stlye comedy shot here in Edmonton starring John Candy, Eugene Levy and crew?
This was definitely a cable channel show probably on Showcase. An hour long show. A comedy like Ally McBeal or All In The Families were considered comedies but there were some serious moments in them too.
It was set in LA. There were stories of things that happened at the office. There were stories of the main boss and his family. He had a wife, a son, and a daughter. There were also stories of a single female executive at her home. This woman bought the shows. One of the episodes was her drinking vodka with a Russian. They'd have regular meetings discussing the networks schedule and there was a board with the names of their shows on it.
We think that the show's title might have been a three word title like: ____ and ____.
We just found it. It was called Beggars and Choosers.
