Just curious and I appreciate and actually have used and find some ehmac ads quite useful and informative.
But do I really need some of the latest that have started showing up like this one???

Myself, I'm getting "followed around" by an ad for VMWare Fusion 4 and another one for "Radiation reducing iPhone cases" -- as well as the dreaded Mac Spyware / cleaner type products.
See that little circled "i" in the lower right corner of the ad? It flags the ad as being part of a Google AdSense insert / campaign. To quote Google policy:
"The AdChoices icon appears on sites that use Google's AdSense program to show ads. While Google often shows you ads based on the content of the page you are viewing, we also show some ads based on the types of websites you visit, view, or where you interact with an ad or other Google product supported by Google's advertising services."
You do have SOME control as to what will show up in those AdSense boxes -- but if you opt out of certain types of ads associated with your account, they may be replaced by irrelevant ads (as pertains to page content type or your tracked interests) that might bother you even more.
If you wish to edit the AdSense categories associated with your browser, or opt out of personalized advertising, you may do so through Google's Ads Preferences Manager:
Google's Ads Preferences Manager (http://www.google.com/ads/preferences)
By the way, AdSense ads preferences may also be reset by deleting your browser's cookies -- (or the specific Google cookie that stores your ads preferences).
Truth be told, I don't think the Mayor has that much control as to what the "AdSense" boxes will show.

another reason for glimmerblocker or adblocker
since no has control over what ad you see then just block them.

I'm being chased around my Tweed & Hickory ads for K-Cups. Possibly because I've googled them at least once. I even went into the store and they didn't have any of the advertised item in stock.

Just become an ehMac Gold or Lifetime Member (http://www.ehmac.ca/upgrade.php) and forget about the ads forever.
Plus, you'll have some other nice benefits.

I think anyone with more than 3,362 posts should get an ad-free account. :D
Okay, never mind. I'll just use a heavily edited 'hosts' file instead.
