UPDATE: Thanks to the boards, a machine has been found. Thanks, all! :)

My mom was using my-hand-me down aluminum unibody macbook and it recently died.

My current MBA is too new to justify me buying a new one and handing this down to her, so I thought I'd see if anyone had a machine maybe 2 - 4 years old that works well, but could be prompted to upgrade if they knew they could sell it for a few hundred bucks. Maybe you weren't really thinking of selling, but this tips the scales in that direction.

I'm trying to convince her that the grandkids can watch Spongebob on a portable dvd player that she can get cheaply, so she doesn't need an optical drive on her laptop, but you know how moms can be. Plus all those DSLR pictures take up a lot of hard drive space, and I've only just got her in the habit of organizing them into folders. (So getting her to use an external HD would take more serious training and discipline on her part.) This is why I'd rather have a used macbook than a new Air for her. A Pro just really seems like overkill.

PM me if this tempts you to upgrade to a new Air or Pro for yourself! :)
