A few weeks ago, I was wondering what Apple might do with some of their 67 Billion dollar war chest of money (http://www.ehmac.ca/anything-mac/94449-what-apple-going-do-its-pile-money-what-should-they-do.html). Well, based on reports from the New York Post (http://www.nypost.com/p/news/business/apple_pays_music_bigs_OcxlGqT1E0P5P9vzosxtyK), Apple is dipping a little bit into the chest to help get their upcoming iCloud service off the ground.

The Post is reporting (http://www.nypost.com/p/news/business/apple_pays_music_bigs_OcxlGqT1E0P5P9vzosxtyK) that Apple will fork over between $100 million and $150 million in advanced payments to the four major music labels in order to get its iCloud off the ground.
"The size of the advance payments have been a major hold-up for Google, which had been negotiating with the music companies and now will likely have to pony up higher fees to get a rival cloud service into action, said music industry sources."
I find it very interesting that deals like this wait to get finalized so close to the press conference that has already been scheduled. Isn't that kind of like putting the cart before the horse? Then again, when you have 67 Billion dollars at your disposal, you do kind of have the flexibility to push these deals through when getting close to the wire.
Looking forward to Monday and Apple's announcements at WWDC! Don't forget our live chat (http://www.ehmac.ca/index.php?f=64) on Monday, June 6th! Chat starting 12:00 PM EDT with Steve Jobs keynote starting an hour later.
