Probably because the price is not enticing enough. It's reasonable but not enough to make people think they've got a real deal. Faster refurb currently available for $1479.

Refurb is 1479+taxes=1671. I am considerably lower than that. However what do you think would be a reasonable price for this?

I'd pay $1200 for it! But I am still loving my Penryn pre unibody 15 "er!

Since you ask, I would consider $ 600 or $ 700 a fair price.

Thanks for that. But I don't think I will go that low.

Whoa there, big fella! That's my opinion of what it's worth, which we were invited to contribute, so there's no need for you to get nasty with me. I am in fact on the lookout for a 15 inch MacBook Pro for someone. But compared to $ 1,200 firm, it's only about $ 600 or $ 700 more to get a brand new one that is faster, has a larger HD, a full year's worth of AppleCare, and it won't have idiosyncracies that would fall to me to cope with. If you are gonna spend over $ 1K, you might as well get a new one. We'll be going to kick the tires on new MacBook Pro's tomorrow...

i hope you find the one your looking for, for this one I can see offering maybe $900 as a low ball and maybe getting it depending on how badly the seller needs to rid himself of it.

Macfury

Brian, I've seen the 2.8 Ghz model offered as low as $1100 on Toronto craigslist, but there are plenty to choose from here. I can get a used MacBook Pro 15″ 2.4GHz with Apple Care to 2012 at a local retailer for $1,199. You might do better offering it on a local craigslist where there's less local product.

...and I'd take two of them at $700 each.

So would 1000 be unreasonable?

So would 1000 be unreasonable?
The Mac2Sell web site comes up with $C990 as the "value",

So yes, I think $ 1000.- is reasonable -now to find someone who wants this particular model.
I personally don't like a glossy screen.

So would 1000 be unreasonable?

I think that's a far more reasonable price.

Okay, so how much of a price drop so that you could live with the glossy screen. How a price drop to, say, $ 700?

Why would he offer it at below what the market is currently paying for these?

my 13" 2.66 pro is glossy and i'm fine with it.

Maybe we should not be hijacking this seller's thread to discuss these issues. But since you ask, the reason is simple: in order to actually sell it, you offer it at a price that it will actually sell at. (This is a firm price, remember, no bargaining.) If others are asking $ 1,000, what are they actually selling for? That amount, or is there some bargaining going on?

Okay, so how much of a price drop so that you could live with the glossy screen. How a price drop to, say, $ 700?

I would simply not buy it because of the glossy screen. I have one 13-inch MBP with a glossy screen, that's enough.
But that's an individual choice.
With a glossy screen I would only consider buying it for resale and then I would expect to make 30 to 40% on it, so yeah, for resale, I would pay $700.-
But I think for $1000.- with maybe just a little wiggle room, this MBP will sell.

So what I gather is that $1000 is a fair price to ask, so that is what I am now asking for. Any takers?

For the longest time, MacBooks were scarce at anything close to what you'd expect for a used Apple laptop. Now there's a glut of product available and prices are dropping.
