Mayor would just like to say thanks for all your work of late you are really turning it up to 11.

But on this particular item I really just hit new posts and go from there so the sorting of the forums does not really effect my every day life (but I am sure others will appreciate it more then I)

I like it Mr. Mayor, it makes a lot more sense know IHMO coming from one you actually does use the forums homepage to go to the various sections. :)

I think it's wise to combine the ipad with the other iOS devices. iTunes could also be for mac devices...but i think it makes more sense to keep it with the iOS stuff.

I'd change "Mac & iPod Troubleshooting" to "Mac & OSX Troubleshooting". IMO the iPod stuff should be in the one forum.

Perhaps a Legacy Apple hardware a software forum? (although it'll probably be quite dead). Just to keep things separate?

Other then those points i think it's more organized. Nice move(s)!

I also go straight to new posts, so naming of sub forums doesn't matter when I'm reading, but.....

What about people who love their iOS gadgets, but have Windows computers?

There are lots of folks here who can help them, but a nobody here might be timid about asking for windows help on a Mac forum.

I would be.

What..? seems pretty obscure to me...That's word association for ya.

People have made careers, paid the mortgage, sent kids off to ivy league schools, interpreting the meaning of such word associations.

I like the layout but it would be interesting to get some feedback from someone who buying their first ever;

Imac or Ipad.

I'm not on the forums alot but I've owned Macs for many years. Viewpoints from some brand new users would be interesting.

I'm fine with the changes, especially all the iOS gadgets together. One observation though. Since Everything Else, eh! gets so much more traffic than either Photography Focus or Mac Masters, why not have it in the number four slot and push the other two down. That way most ehMacers who don't participate in either forum (or infrequently do) won't have to scroll past those two forums to get to Everything Else, eh!

I appreciate the removal of the apostrophe from Masters. I also think Photography Focus is clever. In short: it's all good.

As an infrequent participant myself, I think SINC's suggestion makes sense.

How do you filter out the Everything Else, eh! Forum? This site is good for Apple related discussion and support from a (mostly) Canadian perspective, however, there are some members who seem inclined to just copy and paste the daily content of their news feed of choice in to that forum, and I'd love to filter that out of my New Posts (I come here for Apple stuff, I have my own chosen avenues for other stuff, thanks!).

Which is likely why at 19 posts you seem to have no understanding of what makes ehMac the fine "community" that it is. The technical forums are so very useful to all of us, but Everything Else, eh! is the heart of this place where members interact and really get to know one another. ;)

Your post makes the assumption that since I only have 19 posts, I'm new here or don't understand the "community", however, I've actually been a reader of this forum for a number of years, and know all about yourself, other members and goings on at ehMac. As an "outsider" looking in, it could be argued, I understand the "community" much better than those who are activly immersed in it as participants (forests and trees).

As a long time member who mingles with the community on a more or less regular basis, I find that when I need to ask a techie type question, I get much better answers because the folks here know me and thus can provide answers to the questions I ask, and often they also answer the questions that I didn't know to ask.

As Sinc says, this place is successful because of the communiy parts of the forum.

Same here.
However, I sometimes think there should be a separate section for techie type questions that are not specifically Mac related. The question of which external hard drive or which enclosure to use comes up fairly often - Windows and PC questions also used to come up a lot but that has dies down a little.
I find that the community on this forum is very knowledgable about these other techie questions that are not purely Mac related, so I do post my questions here....and for lack of a better place, I place them into the Mac troubleshooting section always waiting for some one to complain that the question is not specifically related to the Mac or even an Apple product.
Hasn't happened yet - nobody squawked, all ever got so far were good comments and answers and I hope it stays that way.

But when I check the forum, I also just click on "New Posts"
