Buying or selling?
I know for sure that I can buy one in pristine shape with those specs for less than $700, and a newer model refurb with full warranty is only $899.

I think you should get or at least ask $800 for it!
Good luck with the sale!

True, the refurbed newer model (similar specs though) goes for $899, but don't forget that tax is going to push that well over $1000. The unibody macbooks are still holding decent value from what I can see, and I don't think $800-$850 would be too unreasonable for that machine. If it has applecare, or the ability to extend, that would make for an easier sale.

AppleCare extension does make for a faster and easier sale ... however these machines, even for an Apple first build are incredibly solid and renowned for quality!! I know I own one.
Not to mention the following over or equal to current MBP 13"
Equal:
* Unibody Aluminum
* Backlit keyboard
* 2.4Ghz P8600 Intel C2D with max 4GB ram is incredible (same 1066Mhz DDR3 RAM).
Over:
* replaceable battery & easy access (no tools) to HDD. Yes many still love this and when travelling to small abode accomodations - having a quick-change battery trumps going out of state/province for an Apple store to service a problematic battery. Battery life on 1 is lower than current MBP lineup - but 1 in the hand is equal to 2 on the road as they say.
* individual audio IN/OUT ports with optical support. Many in the audio production field still love this feature; and its a VERY capable machine.
$800 without AppleCare is VERY fair due to build quality and quality condition. Serviceable parts are getting cheaper from Apple Genius'.
$850-900 with AppleCare upgrade should be fair. I would've purchased this back in February but I had to have one right-away and Bundy was not in any rush then; which shows the mettle of a seller. Bon chance on the sale.
