Not sure about other users here in ehMacland, but other users are experiencing this same phenomenon- poor battery life after updating to IOS4 on their iPhones and iPod Touch's. I am on my iPod Touch. The battery is draining overnight even when turned off. When I first noticed it, I soft reset the Touch, but the battery is draining once again. Not good. Anyone hear of any fix coming?

My battery drained in less than 12 hours on my 3GS, irrespective of whether I was on 3 or iOS4. I see absolutely no difference. And the only things I do with the phone are:
- Talk to my wife for around 30-40 minutes each day
- Check and delete emails (very rarely read them) for about 5 minutes a day.
That's all. No using the iPod function, no videos, no nothing else.
My wife's experience on her 3GS has been identical.
I was under the impression that this was standard performance for any iPhone, never realised that I might have a problem!
Cheers

This new multitasking seems to drain my battery very quickly. If I don't close all the applications they just keep running. I have not tried to see is the battery drains overnight when the iphone is shut down but I will try. I wish they would make an update that would enable you to turn multitasking on and off, I don't use it and I doubt I ever will.

Could multitasking be happening even when the unit is off? I don't fully shut it down by holding the button but just do a quick shut off. I never had it drain like this until updating to IOS4.

I do not use the multitasking function at all so you are bringing up some questions I never thought of. I can not even be 100% sure it is the multitasking feature that is causing the power drain.
I'm not sure if during sleep mode the open programs still cause a power drain. I will have to do the same test but with apps open and we will see if there is any difference.
I hope someone can help us out with the answers.
