I'll be lucky if I get this posted before I get a screen telling me I'll have to log in in order to access those features, grrrrr:mad: How those folks can post multiple paragraphs I'll never know. The screen says I'm logged in right there in the upper right hand corner so fingers crossed I'll now try the Submit New Thread button, wish me luck.

There's an activity timer - and you will automatically get logged out after (I believe) 15 minutes if you haven't interacted directly with the site within that time.
Composing a post isn't direct interaction and the timer is counting. The only reason the page still says you are still logged in (when you actually may not be) is because you haven't refreshed it.
The way to give yourself more time to compose long posts is to check on the "Remember me" little box at log in.
Alternatively, if you have composed a long post and don't want to risk losing it, copy it before you hit Submit Reply. That way, if you get thrown to the log-in page again, after you log in again (this time clicking "Remember Me") you can simply paste what you copied into the reply box and hit Submit.
Note that you will have to manually log yourself out after clicking "Remember me" ...otherwise you will remain logged in.
