: Price check - 12" G4 PB
nice&easy, mac&cheesey Jan 20th, 2010, 05:27 PM I need a price check on a mint condition PowerBook G4 (12", 1.5GHz, 1.25 RAM). Brand new Apple battery (from Apple store, has about 10 cycles on it, still 100% health). Cosmetically, perfect laptop. Functionally, almost perfect. The only problem is that the Combo Drive doesn't accept discs. They go all the way in but the computer won't "grab" them. I also have the box and all related cables.
And how much extra would you include for a perfect condition iSight with box and all cables and attachments?
Thanks,

Anyone, anyone? Bueller.... Bueller...
rgray Jan 23rd, 2010, 11:39 AM Mac2Sell (http://mac2sell.net) says $200 in that configuration. I agree, FWIW. I loved my PB12 when I had it but the model is ancient history now. I got $400 when I sold it 2 years ago in pristine condition.
Macfury Jan 23rd, 2010, 02:04 PM The Intel barrier has hit these models pretty hard., but I find Mac2sell a bit conservative. Based on my habitual combing of craigslist, I think you could get $350. That's largely because the earliest Macbooks are still in a holding pattern of $550 and above.
passmoregas23 Jan 24th, 2010, 05:26 PM I bought one a few months ago for $350.00. I think isights are getting around $100.00 in good condition.
nice&easy, mac&cheesey Jan 26th, 2010, 01:40 AM Thanks for the replies. Much appreciated. Looks like it's more worth it to me to keep (especially given what I paid for a brand new Apple battery).
Again, thanks.

I would agree especially since the combo drive needs to be replaced.
Any potential purchaser would take that cost into account when making an offer.
This 12-inch iBook is probably worth more dead than alive :D
ie - take it apart and sell the parts.
Bjornbro Jan 26th, 2010, 12:33 PM Can it boot into OS 9 or only run Classic?

You know what?... I have no idea. It has 10.5.8 on it right now.
If you tell me how to check I can give it a go.
