In case you missed it, I thought you might enJoy our current Joy of Tech comic, regarding the new Canadian iTunes store. (http://www.geekculture.com/joyoftech/joyarchives/624.html) :D

It was a lot of fun to do, Nitrozac and I just wish we had more time a space to feature more of our great Canadian artists. graemlins/love2.gif

OK, have a good one eh! smile.gif

that comic looks like more typical american ignorance towards canada to me. i know it's supposed to be funny, but i think it's dumb.

Hey, its Debbie Downer.

Unlike Americans.. we're not afraid to laugh at ourselves and we don't take ourself so seriously. (I think its a result of being more secure of oursevles) Lighten up a bit! ;) (And in case you didn't realize, the to artists behind Joy of Tech are Canadian.

Now if an American cartoonist made the comic... it wouldn't be as funny... but still funny.

Ever seen the movie "Canadian Bacon"? It's a movie by Canadians that pokes fun at the american stereotype of who Canadians are. Or how about the SCTV skit, "Great White North" with Bob and Doug McKenzie? All classic! I loved the JOT comic so much that I saved the image to my pictures folder and e-mailed it to a bunch of my buddies.

FYI, Canadian Bacon was written and directed by Michael Moore, who definately is not Canadian.

It only stars some Canadians.

One of the things folks from other countries have told me they like about Canadians is we don't get uptight when folks take the ****. I have no prob when folks bug me about the "aboot" thing. Frankly I don't say anything close to that but Brits and Americans get a chuckle out of it, and besides what harm does it do? It isn't the best parody I have ever seen but it did give me a little chuckle. Especially the Stompin' Tom stuff cuz iTunes doesn't have any at the moment!

I love Canada, though it's topics like this that make me realize that Canadians seem to love themselves without knowing anything about themselves.

I would expect that Canadian Mac users would know that Nitro and Snaggy are Canadian, but "Canadian Bacon" is not.

that comic looks like more typical american ignorance towards canada to me. i know it's supposed to be funny, but i think it's dumb.
Get over yourself. Don't assume all humor directed at Canada is based on "typical american ignorance." The fact that you assume Americans are typically ignorant is such a jingoistic characterization I am disappointed you and I are the same nationality.
Now if an American cartoonist made the comic... it wouldn't be as funny... but still funny. I am really disappointed you said that, mayor. There is no relationship between how funny something is and who said it. Ever heard of Ad Hominem?
Ken: Everyone knows Moore is a wannabe Canadian. Everyone know Micheal Moore is a pompous ass. The only thing worse than bad leaders are incompetent critics. Besides, if Moore had an ounce of integrity he'd still have been in the Ralph Nader camp. Didn't he dismiss the two main parties by calling them "Republicrats?" How quickly such a man of integrity can change his political stripes.

Snaggy, I love your website. Keep up the awesome work!

I am really disappointed you said that, mayor. There is no relationship between how funny something is and who said it. Huh? tongue.gif

Delivery and point of reference is often a huge part of a joke. I couldn't disagree more... often who is saying the joke is a huge part of whether the joke is funny or not. I bet half the stuff in the Joy of Tech comic most Americans wouldn't even understand. graemlins/heybaby.gif

Anyways... let's not analyze it too much. graemlins/nuts.gif
