Seen one of these on ebay and was thinking of picking it up. Anyone seen or heard of these? It's 4200 RPM but has a 8mb cache buffer. Would this be a performance perk on my stock 60bb Hard Drive. Also, would my 60 GB fit in a clamshell ibook?
Thanks

Don't know about the Tangerine iBook, but for your PB, look at the Toshiba 5400/80gig/16 meg buffer. They claim a 11-17 % performance increase. Faster drive, bigger buffer.

The faster drive will also suck battery life a lot quicker. Not good for the business traveller, but good for mobile professionals who plug-in often.

Yep, the old drive from your PB will fit in a clamshell iBook.

You should surely see some perf increase. Bigger cache + the more recent drives have been packing some better densities from what i have been told/seen in tests.

There is a pasts convo about that here (http://www.ehmac.ca/cgi_bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=008849).

The clamshell requires a 9.55mm drive... how skinny is your 60?

I'm not sure but it's in anew PB so it must be pretty skinny.
