I have a 500GB MyBook with missing power adapter. I think they are the same for all MyBook drives. It is 12 volt output. Anyone have one to spare from a dead drive? Trade for HDMI cable or Toslink cable?

Any 12V power adapter with at least 2 amps should work fine.

Try one at The Source CC or any computer/dollar store.

The Source's adapters are kinda expensive for this application... I've used them for plenty of projects, but mostly those where the built in Voltage control et cetera makes them idea.

I've had bad luck with adapters from the Dollar Store like places... I've never seen adapters in Dollarama or Everything For A Dollar (EFADs), but there are a few dollar-store-esque places that I've had some nasty experiences with.

A good place to get used DC adapters is Value Village... They have sometimes hundreds of adapters each individually bagged and labeled on a rack... And they're cheap as hell too. Like $0.50... Or $1.35.

That is all.

I couldn't even find the right adapter at The Source. I'll check out Value Village. Thanks for the tip.

Too bad you didn't post this a little earlier, just threw one away. I had a dead myBook with a good power supply.
