It could be real, although it could be staged as well. There is no way to tell really.

Hand up if your first response to having your iMac burning would be to video it for youtube?

My thoughts exactly. Seriously... No-one's unplugging it, they're just shouting and filming. Safety fail.

maybe it's already been unplugged? or the power has been cut?

it certainly doesn't look 'on'

Doubt it would smoke like that w/o any electrical power.

The iMac started to combust because the guy was looking at too much NSFW stuff.

I bet if you translated what the guy with the camera said it would be something like this:

"alright, alright I got the camera rolling... Plug it back in!"

lol:lmao:

This seems very staged and possibly faked

Could be real, as it looks like cell phone video to me. And it was already smokin' by the time the video is rolling... Noticed some other mac hardware as well. Such a waste though either way!!!

I've had a PC go that way at work about 5 years ago. Burnt a hole right through the motherboard.

the reason I say fake is because no one in the video is very concerned, no one is doing anything, it just seems to be set up for the camera to me.
But hat's just my opinion.

I totally believe this could happen.
I used to work in a research lab in a hospital. One morning the water pipe under the sink broke. The summer student in the lab at the time, went to get our supervisor, a cardiologist; but student refused to tell him why, just repeating, "you have to see this". Once my supervisor saw the problem, he called the maintenance staff to fix it, all the while water was flooding the lab. If either had bothered to open the cupboard under the sink, they would have seen the break was just above the water shut off valve and half a turn on the valve would have stopped it flooding the caf.
