You know,

I have upgraded and I recently bought a new 200 gig HD which I stuck in a firewire case, vantec case or something not sure if its good..

Anyways for a few days it has been a life saver! 200 gigs of space to keep backups, rip dvd's, store 20 gigs of music ect...

Then last night, it wouldnt mount in both my powerbook or g3 b/w! I was freaking because I had put everything important on it!!@ Just wouldnt mount, tried numerous times, tried powering it on and off..

Then eventually it just mounted on the powerbook. So I don;t know whatsup, I hope this isnt a sign of things to come..

The case is aluminum and the drive is a maxtor 200 gig, ($115 bucks at Staple! Yeah!) So I hope this isnt a heating issue, or a bad case issue...

I dunno

Relieved to say my FW drive mounts and works OK.

My external hard drive in a Belkin case also failed to mount after the 10.3.6 update - thankfully, it has a USB 2.0 port as well as the FireWire ports, and so does my G4, so it was all good. ;)

My LaCie 195 Gb FW800 drive mounts perfectly under 10.3.6

The issue with 10.3.6 needs working out. Reminds me of the initial FW800 problems.

I read a thread at Spymac about someone saying that they were unable to mount their Lacie Drive with 10.3.6

I think I am going to wait to update on this one. I use my external drive quite a bit for work and the last thing I need is for it to not mount.
