The man was a fine actor.

For those who haven't seen it I'd recommend Bound For Glory. One of his best roles.

I almost always found his bad guy roles somewhat disturbing. They were in such stark contrast to the warm, fuzzy Caine that I cut my teeth on.

I hope he found what he was searching for...

MM, I was just about to write the same thing as you said in this posting. Very true. Great minds think alike.

David Carradine "lived with Barbara Hershey from 1972-75 (she changed her last name to Seagull to during this time). They have a son they named Free Carradine at birth, but who has since changed his name to Tom Carradine."

And they starred together in the movie Boxcar Bertha (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0068309/). Changed my life...

Death Race 2000!

Here's to scoring a few officials in the afterlife 'Frank' (the judges ruled it valid).

Yes, tragic. I always felt he was a better actor that most of his roles gave him the opportunity to be. RIP.

I never watched him in his earlier roles but his role as Bill in Kill Bill Vol1 &2 was amazing. RIP.

Being a teenager in the 70's, I never missed an episode of Kung Fu. To me he'll always be Kwai Chang Caine.

I liked his actor father John Carradine as well.

As did I, Kps. His role in "The Grapes of Wrath" was his best role, in my opinion.

I'm still pi**ed that Bruce Lee didn't get the Kwai Chang role.

Some new info has surfaced and says it may have been an accidental death.

Maybe a kind of Hutchence ending?

Found naked in a closet. Rope around his neck and penis. Looks like auto-erotic asphyxiation.
What a stupid way to go...

stupid way -?? you could say the same dying doing anything that was is thrill and risk...if it was motorcycle thrill ride that ended in his own death - what's the diff....

This seems far more in keeping with the perceived personality.

Yup, STUPID way to go.
I'm surprised, MacDoc, that you can't see the difference between a thrilling ride on a fast motorcycle and hanging yourself in a closet for some kind of a sexual thrill, but hey, whatever floats your boat, man.
Being that it happened in Thailand I wouldn't be too surprised if pictures eventually surface on the internet.

They are BOTH risk behaviours done for personal pleasure and can end in death.

Unless you want to be Victorian about the difference....there is none.

RIP.

I can't forget, in Kill Bill vol. 2, "Chapter 8: Cruel Tutelage of Pai Mei", when Caradine tells the legend of Pai Mei, taking breaks to play his flute by a camp fire.

And the "It just so happens..." speech at the end, and the Superman analysis...

My first thought when I heard about the rope was OK, who was in the room with him? Hotel furnished 'entertainment'.

Without a little help from your friends how do you get off with your hands tied behind your back?

Perhaps the truth will come out but then again I think his private life should remain his PRIVATE life

As Scanman pointed out The Smoking Gun website already has a piece on him from his last wife. This is only the beginning I think.

yes, wasteful way to go; not sure why any one with such a legend status would do a dumb thing like this to end it.
sorry no pity from me.

but i did enjoy the films he was in... I remember when i worked for a local apple dealer ( an era ago ) we sent a Mac tech to his house and the tech told me him and his wife answered the door in their wardrobes :) ( hung over too )

what is it with famous people, you get rich and famous and loose your clothes... ( i have some current clients - famous/rich same thing. - I started doing it now and my wife says 'your nor rich or famous' - i replied but i am comfortable :) - but i am not going to hang myself - plan to live my life in full to torture the misses. - that is my goal :) )

You are obsoletely correct - the rope and closet rail that held the rope killed / sorry wrong wording.. murdered him.
how stupid of me. :o
