Before when I received new mail [I am using Mail } a song of my choice would play,now nothing,I have tried resetting mail preferences but to no avail,
Any help would be appreciated

I have found that to happen - try running Onyx or something similar might correct it.

No. it does not play anything

Check your Sound Control panel for Alert settings.

Play alerts & sounds effects through [line out } is grayed out
