I've noticed that the wide-screen display mode is gone, and I can't seem to find it again. Is it gone for good?

Thanks for the report. Nope, I still want that there. Will look into that.

I'm sure we will find lots of these little things and will address them asap.

Ditto - I can't find the setting for the Liquid theme. Hard on my eyes without the Liquid setting. Hope it's not gone.

+1 for the liquid. It is the only one I have ever used and I love it. That noted, I'm off to explore the new stuff. :D

Nope, should be fixed momentarily.

My apologies for the slowness of the site. The load on the server is through the roof right now. In the coming week, we will move to the new server which should address that. Will see what we can do for this week.

I know, a slow site is very frustrating. :(

Yup, working great now. Thanks!

Not a big deal, but in the reply page, the post icons are now evenly spaced throughout the width of the page, which looks a bit odd.

If you could take a screen shot and upload, that would be awesome. (You can try the new attachment / auto resize feature!

The quick reply window (below) is really wide which makes it hard to follow what you're typing. Any chance it could be returned to a narrower window?

Sorry, not trying to nit pick and I know it's early. You may want to grab some sleep first ehMax. ;)

It is, but an ad blocker makes quick work of it.

Not a bug, but I was wondering why time is GMT -4? Official "ehMac Headquarters" time should be GMT -5 (EST), n'est pas?

Thanks! Actually, the problem was that I had my DST correction option set to "DST Corrections Always On". Problem solved.

wicked update. Snappy, classifieds rock once again, everything works.

Hopefully not too many boneheads ruin it for everyone in the open style classifieds.

So far, for each of 3 PMs I have received since the board reopened, the second pop-up of the pop-up PM notification has crashed Safari 4. I don't usually get a lot of PM traffic but I had not noticed this problem before and I have had this version of Safari for several months. But that said, I can't be sure if this is board related or Safari related at this point. Has anyone else noticed this?

Just got another PM and I paid more attention to the sequence of events. The first popup that asks if you want to see the PM operated properly. The second - the one that asks if you want a new window or in the current window - caused the problem. The first three times, I said I wanted a new window - a new window opened blank, the beachball briefly appeared and then Safari crashed. This time I asked for the current window which went blank and Safari crashed. This is with Safari 4.

This did not happen with the 'old' forum.

Safari crashed so badly that a box opened asking if I wanted to revert Safari's setting (which were pretty much plain vanilla). It also caused the Safari icon to be removed from the Dock.

As stated earlier, I cannot tell if this is an artefact of Safari or of the forum software.

I can state categorically that Safari 4 has been very trouble free in all other uses, in fact, sites which used to require Camino because they wouldn't work properly with Safari ≤3.* render and operate perfectly in Safari 4. I now have no use for Camino.

I like the open concept of the classifieds again. ;)

Just wondering if there is going to be a separate place to report/post potential bad sales/buyers? I can see it getting kinda dumb again with everyone posting gripes and issues they're having with transactions with regular threads.

So far so good, cool.

I think I can shed some light on this problem. I too am running Safari 4 and got my first PM today. That box that pops up is a pain-in-the-you-know-what. It never worked with the previous version, nor does it with this one that I can see. At any rate, I never use it. I simply cancel the box and I used to click directly on the PM link.

Under the new version, I also ignored the pop up box and cancelled it, but when I clicked directly on the "Notification" link, Safari 4 immediately crashed.

I relaunched Safari and this time took a close look at that "Notifications" link and noticed it has the number of PMs awaiting you to the right of the link, in my case "1".

Then to the right of that, I noticed a small "arrow" symbol. I clicked on that arrow and a drop down menu appeared with an option to select "Unread Private Messages". I selected that option and it took me to the inbox without crashing.

I think that is a work around for Safari 4 users that will prevent the crash every time you get a PM.

Am i missing something, or is the home page not as it was? I used to come to the site and the front page would display a list of recent threads - not the categories.

Did this go the way of the DO DO Bird?

It did, but if it is missed by many people, I can probably bring it back.
I think some people did like a summary of recent Mac / iPod related posts.

Please leave feedback if you have an opinion.

SINC, I will still look at your feedback about the wide quick reply box.

Thanks Mayor - I do miss it and will try to find the appropriate spot to leave a note.

And thanks so much for the great work here. It made things easy for me when we converted the whole house from PC to Mac about 2 years ago!

Hi,
I just joined one of the social groups and put in my first post. Great feature by the way! When I clicked on post the message I get a screen that says "you will now be taken to your post Click here if your browser does not....etc"
Nothing happens. And if I "click here" I get a page error. If I back all the way out to the home page and re enter the social group my post is there.
I am using Safari/Leopard, all up to date patches-MBP early 2008.

Is there any way of formatting the way that things look like in the social group posts. [left] [center] [right] for text would be nice. also the ability to insert images into the post.

thank Big Guy :)

Hello ehMax,

All of this is a great job!!!

I've quickly noted 2 things:
- The Youtube embedding feature works well for me in Safari, but I have an error message in Firefox (3.0.6) which tells me that I either don't have flash installed or youtube is down, and none of this is true :-)

- In the social groups, I see all the posts centred. Is it possible to see them aligned to the left like any other posts instead?

Thanks again for all the good work!

Has something changed in the reply to thread dialog?

The font in the reply box where I'm typing my reply seems very tiny although the font once the message is posted and displayed is the same as always.

I'm wearing my strongest spectacles and have my hearing aid turned all the way up but this small font is straining my eyes :D:D

Thanks, Margaret

I am evaluating the social group part of the site. If they are going to stay, will fix the formating.
Possibly looking at a different way of having threads for specific interestes / topics.

I've been trying to get my username on ehMac changed,
But I haven't been able to get a reply after two recent emails to ehMax.

I wanted to change my username from dolawren to Big Foot,
I even started a new account called Big Foot because I was having problems
with posting multiple icons with links in my signature,
But it still wouldn't work in the new account.

Also I have a bug with the reply menu, The YouTube icon is a question mark,
The YouTube icon works, But it's annoying that the icon isn't loading.

This issue was present with the old server and still exists (at least for me) on the new. ..
When I automatically get logged out mid post, and then try to post, the system asks me to sign again, which I do..
then it says it is returning me to the page I just left...
which it doesn't...
All I get is a white blank page that never loads...
So I have to go back to the main page , find the thread, and re-reply.

Having lost many a post this way, I usually remember to copy my post prior to hitting post reply (if I think I may have timed out in the process)

see?
