One thing that would help is a clear message that the site is down (when it is down) rather some cryptic tech-talk that doesn't make any sense.
I can't recall what came up when the site was down recently, but it sure didn't say: "Sorry, ehMac is currently not available" or something to that effect.

I also didn't get the standard message in my browser if a server is totally unreachable

It would appear that the November announcement which became the December announcement has become the non announcement. Unless of course it has morphed into the January announcement, which makes it working on its third title since announced. I think. :D
