How would one go about cleaning the imac's mouse? The scroll ball no longer scolls down on my mouse, and I'm thinking it has to do with gunk in the scroll ball

Last mouse that Apple made with a scroll ball was that awful hockey puck.

If you are still using one of those go to any computer store and for less than $30 you should be able to find an USB optical mouse that will fit your hand.

If we are talking pre USB it really is time to buy a newer computer.

That said: If it has a scroll ball there is a collar around the ball. Turn it counter clockwise, remove the ball, clean the ball AND the internal rollers.

It sounds like you need to blow compressed air from a can into your Mighty Mouse. Any computer store, Walmart, etc. has these for very little cost.

Canada Computers - Accessories/Supplies > Cleaning Supplies : Emzone Air Duster 500 - Compressed Gas Duster, 10oz / 284g. (http://canadacomputers.com/index.php?do=ShowProduct&cmd=pd&pid=014246&cid=545.834)

If there is more than dust to this "gunk" you may have to look up taking the thing apart.

And if it's a physical problem instead, if you have a Mac with an active warranty, the mouse is covered under that.
