I'm looking for a 2 sided Laser Printer for under $200. The other features don't really matter to me..

I saw this at Bestbuy today: Best Buy Canada Web Store: Computers: Printers: Canon Laser All-In-One Printer (MF4150) (http://www.bestbuy.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?sku_id=0926INGFS10082274&catid=25114&logon=&langid=EN)

but a quick google search shows that the 2 sided printing doesn't work with OS X...

So does anyone have any recommendations for a 2 sided printer?

Thanks

Check out this Beaut...

Samsung ML-2851ND Monochrome Laser Printer @ Staples (http://www.staples.ca/ENG/Catalog/cat_sku.asp?webid=731697&AffixedCode=WW) for $149.96. This is a great little printer that I am using right now with my Macs. It works flawlessly with my fiancee's Dell Laptop as well. It does print two sided no problem (saving paper and space). It also has a USB 2.0 as well as a network interface. I've got mine hooked up to my Airport Extreme via ethernet so no particular computer has to be on in order for it to print.

Cheers!

Thanks Zoiks - does that model require additional set up to use 2 sided printing?

I see that some of these printers in their specs say 2 sided printing "Manual" and some say "Automatic" I think I want automatic where it would just "automatically" print on both sides...

The feature that you are looking for is called "duplex". Knowing that word will help you find printers with double-sided printing. We got a duplex printer (Brother 4070CDW) about 6 months ago. I love the convenience of checking "double sided" and letting the printer do all the work.

It also has 4 separate toner cartridges for black and the 3 colours, which in theory means you don't have to replace everything if one colour runs out.

"In theory"

At the moment, I would not suggest a Brother printer. We recently found out that when the printer thinks that there is no toner it won't print at all. This isn't so bad, but the printer counts the number of pages you print and based on that it can decide that the toner is "empty", even if it's not. I think we just hit printing 1850 pages. We have printed very little colour, but the printer is apparently set to say that colour toner runs out after printing 1850 (or a similar number) of pages. It doesn't matter how much toner you actually use. We are currently in the process of trying to figure out if we can fool the printer into thinking that it has new cartridges because we don't want to replace all 3 full colour cartidges just because Brother has told us that it's time we pay them again.

We have a HP 4500DN at work, love it, although it don't play well with InDesign and Acrobat, especially for the duplexing, always have to do that in preview. It's a bit out of your price range, but you can never go wrong with an HP IMO.

DDKD726, I believe that if you create a preset (select your double sided settings, the select "Save As" under the "Presets" menu), your selection will always be pre-selected. I have my setting called "Double Sided" (funny enough) that is always the default choice for printing. Though I am always sure to check the settings before I print.

I don't know what happens when you make two presets; if one becomes the default or if the applications will choose the first created or the first in alphabetical order.

Can anybody recommend a colour laser printer that will do duplex down to A5?

My B&W HP (1350 series) is excellent at A4 size duplex but doesn't do A5. The tech specs on various web sites are ambiguous because many of them do both duplex and A5, but not at the same time!

Refering to a Mac below:
Well, the MF4150 DOES work with duplexing, you just have to go into some setting to enable it. The problem is, scanning doesn't work AT ALL (Unless someone figured it out... tell me if you did). Fax is iffy when working with an answering machine. I wouldn't get it if I were you.

Does your model require you to turn the paper and put it back in yourself (manual duplexing?) Or does it automatically print on both sides?
