: I joined this site for a reason

And sadly, after learning that expressing ones opinion could not be done without any intelligent discourse to follow, I am going to leave. If I wanted to argue with a bunch of children, I would have stayed married to my ex-wife so I could fight with her father. I am now finding this site to be worthless, absolutely worthless. The individuals who are dominating the site are infantile at best, and that is not the discussion I had hoped for.

So, the powers that be, if indeed you read any posts, please delete my membership. I do not want to have anything to do with a site that both propagates flamers and allows such individuals to have free reign.

What were you hoping to discuss? I find this site quite helpful, actually, but it is no substitute for an actual social life. Good luck in your future travels. Live long and prosper.

Opinions are by their nature subjective.

And even worse, everyone has one, on everything.

Sorry you could not stand the heat in the kitchen.

Overdosed on the endless iPhone / I Hate Fraugers / Bell Sux threads? (I do wonder why people are still upset about obscene data charges - if one wants to download for gratis, then grab a laptop and hit the local HotSpot.)

I do not want to have anything to do with a site that both propagates flamers and allows such individuals to have free reign.

Considering the number of users total versus the paltry number of people that actually post, I can actually see the point, but so is the nature of such forums. As far as Forums go, it is actually pretty good here, unlike the vast majority that are absolute garbage. I do miss MasterBlaster, who has been absent for some time now. But I don't think any Forum can be as good as The Well was in the day, or for that matter, The Core when it came to anything techno, and they even paled in comparison to the mighty ARPANet when everything wasdone by uucp on the mighty VAXen. (Though I must say, writing on EhMac is much quieter than hammering in messaged on the DECWriter IV.)

Does anyone know what reason the OP had for joining EhMac in the first place?

Hmm. I've been here for quite a while and I've gotten into some pretty intense discussions with people but never felt flamed, nor have I seen anyone else flamed.

In fact sometimes the same person who strongly disagrees with me in one thread, is the first to step forward to help me in the next.

It's too bad that darrenlovesmac wants to leave so soon, but if he sticks around and gets to know us, I'm sure he'll love us.

Take care, Margaret

I agree, mature, adult, totally worthwhile threads such as this one would be much better.

I'm sorry you've decided to take your ball and go home. My apologies for being away on business for a couple of days to leave you to the rabid wolves for a whole 48 hours.

darrenlovesmac, I enjoyed your posts and the posts of others in those threads.

I hope this is part of a general rough patch you're going through causing life angst and irritation, that it will soon end, and that some day you will come back and re-join in the lighter and heavier banter on ehMac.

Until then, best of luck! (sincerely)

Trust me I ignore them everyday and just not here, all over the intertubes as a matter of fact.

Hell, I've even stopped posting now! There was a point in time when this website made me want to crawl back into my mother's vagina but now its just entertaining to see them fight amongst each other rofl! The word community has a whole new meaning.

............ mature, adult, totally worthwhile threads such as this one would be much better..................

If by "better" you mean boring as hell!

Canada is about diversity and ehMac exemplifies that aesthetic.

We are a diverse and fractious group, which is what gives this forum its colour and appeal. One can count on agreement, disagreement with just about any post. Controversy is the engine that provides the energy that sustains this forum which has had a longer run than many. Diversity of opinion is the very key to the success of ehMac. All of us have been jumped on once in a while and all of us has jumped on someone else, too, for that matter... and still we come up friends.

We are an acquired taste. Take us or leave us - it's your choice. Which ever way you slice it, this is still amongst the most effective places on the net to get real-world Mac user problems solved. I hope it continues so. If you can't stand the heat once in a while, get the F out of the kitchen.

Sensitive people...

In the old days of the ARPANet, I used to belong to a War Board where it was mandatory to have at least a swear word in every phrase or sentence, and the whole point was to be completely insulting to all of the other users. Going light on someone would yield a suspension for what I would politely say is "being wussy". Of course, there used to be the old Club Baby Seal operating out of Chicago, where the point was to be completely politically incorrect in all regards, and to have the most extreme points of view possible. People that recall the Ypsilanti Hub on The Core will recall those halcyon days.

The ARPANet used to be so much fun - especially when entering the email addresses with all of the bangs!that!will!get!the!message!somewhere!...

Uhhmm... just a little anatomy lesson for you spitfire, YOU would have spent a very brief period of time in your mother's vagina as you were being born... the rest of your time you were in her womb.

So unless you have an Oedipus complex, I would hope that you have very little interest in "returning" to your mothers vagina!

Should be good for the Opticians as well, with everyone trying to read web pages on the 3" screen; which is even more odd in this day and age because 24" monitors are kind of considered small these days for the desktop...
