Hey all..
am a windows guy (winces from boos from readers!) but I "think" I'd like to maybe buy a Mac too.

if anyone has a recommendation on where I might find a good deal on same in the GTA area - pls post it here? I will pay cash, want a laptop (are they called laptops in the Mac world too?) and don't mind a second hand one either as I run my biz using windows boxes...

Probably the best place to get quality used macs is the refurb site on the Apple Canada (http://www.apple.ca) website. It is down the left hand column on the store page. Comes very well tested and a one year warranty. It is used, priced as such but pretty much new.

Cash is good for a used computer bought in a private sale, but you get certain protections if you use your credit card and buy from a store.

Otherwise, check the ehMac classifieds, you can also post a "Want to Buy" ad there, although a thread like this one is, ahem, more prominent in certain ways...

Try also carbonation.com and, if appropriate, university computer stores/bookstores.

Call Carbon Computing, on Queen St, East of Broadview.

They might have some trade-ins??

Even try CPUsed on Dupont Street.

That would be good advice if:

(1) CPUsed wasn't nearly universally reviled, and

(2) the store was still located on Dupont Street.

You forgot:

(3) if CPUsed still existed. It was replaced by some BeamEcho thing for some unknown reason. New location is ideal if you love paying outrageous prices for parking, and love traveling through the gridlock of Young Street...

Other places, if not in Toronto: Carbon Computing in Kitchener, and if you like a bit of a drive, you can always go the "no tax" route and go to ICNMe, the official Mac dealer of the Six Nations. Very convenient if you are a smoker...

That isn't even 2005, it's 2002.

If you have a car then give the Dr a shout MacDoc.com (http://macdoc.com/) he's got some decent used prices.

True, but most links should still work.
In truth I was just too lazy to get the URLs for .:: Welcome to ClickOn Macs ::. (http://www.clickonmacs.com/products_used.html)
BeamEcho | Pricelists - Used Apple Hardware (http://www.beamecho.com/pricelists/used_apple/)
carbon computing. sales. hardware. (http://www.carbonation.com/sales/used.html)
the three places I check for used Macs
