Hi all, I haven't been on here for a while, but a recent event made me want to post again.

I came home the other day and turned on the monitor for my pc, which was running so people can skype me. There was an apple update notice on the screen so I clicked install, assuming it was either itunes or quicktime. a little while later I opened the start menu and it said a new program was installed. Eh? what? when? Lo and behold it was Safari. I felt tricked. Apple tricked me. But it was my fault for not even reading what the "update" was.

That brings me to another thing, when ever itunes updates it installs iphone service as well. I have to go and remove it every time. I wish the installer would ask first, not just assume.

So here I am getting my wish to try Safari, even though I was "tricked".

Just thought I would share.

Yeah, I never install anything without checking what it is. The last thing in the world I need is to update something like crucial like quicktime and then find out there's something about it that I don't like. The first time I realized I got burned was when the took the fullscreen option out of the free release of quicktime (I guess that was quite a while ago now)... my unflappable trust of apple was flapped.

Here's a blog about this very "update" (http://john.jubjubs.net/2008/03/21/apple-software-update/)

And here's MDN's take (http://macdailynews.com/index.php/weblog/comments/16753/).

Interesting, there was a small difference on my update window, which I did scan but only to notice that there was 22mb to be installed and only one thing was being installed. I missed the Safari part completely. Don't know how, maybe City of Heroes (tm) had something to do with it. :)
