Does anyone know of a better mail app than the one thats installed under iphone apps? It sucks to delete each spam message seperatly.

Personally, I think it's fun to swipe/delete, but of course I don't get that much spam mail.

Try this: forward your regular email to gmail, then set up the iPhone to receive the gmail instead. This works to eliminate a LOT of spam.

You did not mention location but if you are in Calgary or Edmonton; Nucleus has great spam filters. I found they caught almost all the spam and did not flter the good stuff. A white list and black list allowed for additional fine tuning and there were other tweaks available to the end user.

BTW Yahoo seems to do a very respectable job as well. I take a lot of chances with my Yahoo accounts and get very little spam in my main box.

I use IMAP mail and I leave my machine at home on and checking mail every few minutes. It deals with the spam for the most part (unless I check my mail in between the times that my home machine has filtered it all for me).

I also use the gmail imap to handle things, and it gets rid of more than 99% of my spam. I counted last month 3 spam messages made it to my inbox, and over 1000 messages to the spam folder. Thanks gmail!

No replies. Can anyone advise how I set this all up. I now have a gmail account.

just go into settings -> mail and add an account. Gmail is one of the presupported options so setup should be a piece of cake.

To supplement Corvillus' answer:

1. Log in to mac.com. Go to their settings. Have your mail forwarded to gmail.
2. Set up the gmail account directly on your iPhone, it's one of the supported options.
3. Enjoy less spam.

In Apple mail I added my gmail account and in gmail I added my Rogers account. Will all rogers messages now be filtered through gmail or is there a final step? It said I could choose for the e-mail I reply to be sent from either my @rogers account or @gmail account so I left it at the gmail for now. Also is it better to use IMAP or POP?
