Very interesting. I never would have guessed that they were pictures of their shadows.

:lmao: Yeah Comic Sans, who is the criminal at Microsoft who unleashed that on the public? He should be put in a small room full of graphic designers armed with tasers.

Of course Apple put "Sand" out there and that's worse, although not used quite as ubiquitously.

Yes, and I gag when people use that font as well. ;) :D

Oddly enough, I've actually seen "designers" use that font.

I used to get a chuckle out of one sales guy we had at my old work (a graphic design firm) who insisited on using Comic Sans for all his business correspondance and quotes to clients ... we would always laugh at him and the boss would tell him to change his stuff to Helvetica or Arial and he never "got it" -- it being the irony in sending out a $35k graphic design quote using a comic book font.

I'm completely mystified at the huge popularity of Comic Sans. I don't have a problem with comic book fonts, there are many I've seen that are nicely done. The problem with Comic Sans is that it's clumsy and ugly, badly proportioned and inconsistent. I guess people like it because it looks like anyone could have written it with a marker - I dunno.

I've seen Apple's Sand font used in pro advertising and was shocked. Does Steve "Apple has taste and understands good typography" Jobs know that they been bundling that abomination with their OS for years?

It used to be (originally) used with OS 8's or 9's (or both) custom GUI Manager settings. I think it was aimed at kids when they originally bundled it.

Oh yeah, I remember back in '00 a friend's 11 year-old set their brand new iMac with Sand as the system font and they left it that way. It was gruesome trying to use that computer for anything.

At Edmonton Public Libraries, they seem to love that font. Almost all of their posters or anything printed has something in Comic Sans in it. The automatic check-out kiosks drive me crazy, because it doesn't fit with the rest of the system at all.
