Customers who purchase a qualifying new Macintosh computer on or after August 7, 2007 that does not have iLife ’08 included can upgrade to iLife ’08. (http://www.apple.com/ca/ilife/uptodate)

That's basically just for if you bought a Mac on or after they had already announced iLife '08, since they were now shipping them with new macs but if it was a mac already on the shelf, well...

Shouldn't it be a free upgrade in that kind of situation? $10 is a great deal, but I definately feel like it should be free - it basically boils down to "you pay more because you chose to buy your Mac in a store, and not online".

thanks! i'm going to call Apple tomorrow as I have a bad feeling that my 'refurb' doesn't count as 'new'. we'll see....

A friend just picked up a Refurb MacBook (2.16 C2D, $1199). I don't suppose iLife '08 will come installed?

Actually, it boils down to, "You bought a Mac that was sitting on the shelf prior to the announcement." If it makes you feel any better, you're not paying $10 for iLife '08, but $10 to ship it to you. :D

It does come with iLife 08...
