: New MacBook shipped
csonni May 16th, 2007, 04:46 PM Just now got notification from Apple that my new white MacBook 2.16 has shipped and scheduled to arrive on Friday, along with my order of a STM Small Alley Bag, an Incase black neoprene sleeve and an iSkin keyboard protector. It will be good to go portable again. Not sure yet if I will ever install Windows, although there are a few Windows programs I'd like to run- Weather Display and something for my GPS.

csonni May 16th, 2007, 06:43 PM Where does Apple merchandise (especially MacBooks) get shipped from? It has been shipped Purolator and I know that there were brokerage fees for me in the past when shipping through Purolator. Apple must have something worked out with them? I really doubt I will get the items in 2 days. It has to get trucked into Goose Bay over 16 hours of gravel road, unless it comes air. I'll be surprised if I get it before May 22, because our delivery service (contracting out for Purolator) doesn't do deliveries on Saturday or Sundays and Monday is Victoria Day. I did pay a total of $37 for speedy shipping so I could get my goodies before I leave on a 10 trip on May 25. I just checked both tracking numbers and none, apparently, have been entered into the system yet.
eMacMan May 16th, 2007, 09:01 PM A bit jealous too. When my ship runs aground I will be looking at the 24" iMac. While that will help, it is at least 2 or 3 months away.:D
DR Hannon May 16th, 2007, 11:51 PM Congrats, you will not be disappointed.

Shouldn't be any brokerage fees, since you paid in Canadian dollars from a Canadian supplier. Your MacBook is probably being shipping from China (Shanghai, most likely) to Anchorage. That's how it would enter the continent, and I think the final destination alters the route at this point. It's probably being shipped Purolator Air, rather than ground. If you have the tracking number, this should give you specifics as to it's delivery route.
TrevX May 17th, 2007, 08:52 AM My refurb MBP shipped from Oakland, CA of all places. In 12 hours it made it to Memphis, Tennessee (it was shipped via FedEX). Crossed the border into Mississauga the next day, and then took 2 business days to get to me in Nova Scotia. I ordered from Apple.ca.
Trev
csonni May 17th, 2007, 09:35 AM According to that scenario, TrevX, I won't get my MacBook until next week sometime, especially if my shipment is out of China. I called Purolator and they said it was all scanned in as being in transit at 2:30 a.m., May 17. I ordered late afternoon of May 16.
robert May 17th, 2007, 09:45 AM If Purolator has it scanned in, then it has to be in Canada, non?

Purolator isn't a Canadian company. ;)
csonni May 17th, 2007, 11:05 AM Here's a screenshot of the latest status. It looks like it originated from the States?

Except for the Purolator owned by Canada Post...
JAGflyer May 17th, 2007, 01:42 PM Your product will enter North America through Anchorage. FYI: There are TONS of cargo flights from all over Asia at the airport. From there it goes on various flights to get to you. Air Canada JAzz flies to goose bay so they probably chuck it on one of those flights.
csonni May 17th, 2007, 01:52 PM I've always read posts of others who were awaiting a new Apple of some sort. Now I understand the excitement of having a new Mac coming, with a whole year warranty! The only new Mac I've purchased before was a G4 350 Mhz tower (Sawtooth). That thing was awesome! Then I got my used G5 1.8 single, used of course, and I still enjoy its power. The 15" PB I purchased used (sold recently to an ehMacer for a super low deal, of which I now realize after shopping around for a replacement) never gave me the WOW factor. The MacBook will be a welcome addition to my G5. Hope I see it arrive tomorrow before the holiday.
monokitty May 17th, 2007, 03:23 PM Except for the Purolator owned by Canada Post...
What I meant to say is that Purolator doesn't operate solely within Canada, which means a shipment that's in Purolator's hands doesn't automatically indicate it's on Canadian soil.
robert May 17th, 2007, 03:36 PM Then why didn't you say that Lars?
monokitty May 17th, 2007, 04:17 PM Then why didn't you say that Lars?
Because at the time I didn't think Purolator was Canadian owned.
ZRXer May 17th, 2007, 04:32 PM We got our iMac in the denoted shipping time frame. It followed the same route that others have mentioned - came from China, through Alaska, then on to Memphis Tennesse. At that point, I was thinking, can't they just hook up a parachute and drop it over Edmonton as they're flying over my place?? ;) Anyhoo, it went very quickly from Memphis to cross the border and then it was here in Edmonton. Keep the faith! You'll see your new baby soon! I also ordered from apple.ca. On a side note, iPods follow the same route too. I always find it amazing to get an engraved iPod straight out of a box - made just for me!
csonni May 17th, 2007, 05:38 PM I just was told by Purolator that my shipment had made it to Toronto, but unfortunately, it's not scheduled to arrive here until Tuesday! Awhh. He said the 2 business days don't count until it arrives in Toronto. Maybe tomorrow will surprise me, but I think I'll be waiting until after the long weekend.
monokitty May 17th, 2007, 05:43 PM csonni, you sound desperate. ;)
csonni May 17th, 2007, 06:19 PM I suppose. I am tied up for 2 weeks from the day it is scheduled to arrive. I will be taking it with me on a 10-day trip with no time to do much installing, etc. Getting it tomorrow would at least give me part of the weekend to take care of that.
mixedup May 17th, 2007, 07:06 PM purolater dropped mine at the WRONG address...a store nearby my place that had a large order of apple stuff being delivered. thankfully i checked online during the day (using the tracking number), saw it had been delivered, had my girlfriend who was off of work that day go and check with the concierge...only to find nothing had been delivered. had to call purolater to figure out where it ended up and they ended up picking it up/redelivering it later that day.
irritating too...i could have got a faster macbook with the same specs for $200 or so cheaper now that the 'new' ones have been released. ahhh, well. it's plenty fast anyway!

Call Apple. They're usually pretty good with price-protecting within 15 days. They'll probably credit your card.
mixedup May 17th, 2007, 08:28 PM too late...i ordered back in march. :(
these things happen, i guess. i'm still really satisfied with my purchase!
TheBat May 17th, 2007, 10:26 PM csonni, you sound desperate. ;)
I agree. You ordered a computer. It's on the way. Why do we have to know?
I will be ordering some socks (that I will wear when I use my PB). Should I post when I actually do?? And post details of the route it will take to get to me?

That's what I love about ehMac.
A wonderful loving community and smart and helpful as well. :)

Why so emo?
DR Hannon May 17th, 2007, 11:34 PM KRS :o :D
Stop it I am blushing. You are so silly.
csonni May 18th, 2007, 03:50 PM Very glad to report that my MacBook and accessories arrived this afternoon. Have it up and running and typing on it now. Must say the iSkin is something to get used to. No uneven lighting issues. Read lots of issues about cracking MacBooks recently. Hope that has been eliminated. I find the screen is a bit tight compared to my 15" Powerbook. I was surprised at how heavy the MacBook is. I will start transfering files and apps over in the next couple of days.
